By Jake Broder
Directed by David Ellenstein
In His Royal Hipness Lord Buckley, Jake Broder and his be-bop jazz trio will transport audiences to an exciting reimagining of a performance by counter-culture icon
Lord Buckley. Through a mash up of comedy, spoken word, and music and pulling text from iconic speeches, fables, famous literature, dramatic works, and
civil rights movements, this ever-evolving modern piece is a unique experience not to be missed.
Following sold-out runs in London and Los Angeles, Broder returns to New York with this critically acclaimed salute to Buckley. The largely forgotten comedian of the 1940s and 50s, who was described by Frank Sinatra as "the most sensational comic of our time," is cited as having inspired a myriad of entertainers including Bob Dylan, Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Lenny Bruce, and Bob Dylan, among others.
