written & directed by Matt Wilkinson
with Daniel York and Pauline Turner
He is 'the chink in a suit' and she is a 'jock on the wagon', but in what might be the unlikeliest pairing since Arthur Miller and Marilyn Monroe, this odd couple fall in love. Matt Wilkinson's darkly comic story of a love affair between mixed race city trader, David Li, and Scottish artists and recovering alcoholic, Lorna McRae is slick and blindly up-to-date with its blond-wood and burshed steel set by Soutra Gilmour and techno soundtrack. This is theatre for the adrenaline culture. The Mu-Lan Theatre Company was set up in London in 1988 to shatter Asian stereotypes and this top notch production has united London critics in their praise.
