Show Info

Book, lyrics, and performed by Gianna Milici
Music by Shelbie Rassler
Directed by KJ Stewart

Pretty Delusional is a coming-of-age musical comedy about staying sexy in the face of rejection. Through personal storytelling, original songs, and an existential crisis, Gianna Milici marches heart-first into the battle of loving too much or not at all. But most importantly, trying to not vomit in the process.

Brooklyn Bottling Co.

Gianna Milici (Book/Lyrics/Performer) (she/her) is an actor/writer/comedian based in Brooklyn. She’s performed in new works at Ars Nova’s ANT Fest, New Ohio Theater, The Tank, and the Fresh Fruit Festival at the Wild Project. She can also be seen doing comedy sets around the city at places such as the KGB Bar Red Room and The Slipper Room. As a humble emerging artist who plans to take over the world, Gianna thanks you from the bottom of her heart for coming out to the show. BFA: NYU Tisch

Shelbie Rassler (Music) rose to national and global acclaim for her compositions and viral social impact music videos supporting those affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Following her production of Burt Bacharach and Hal David’s “What the World Needs Now,” Shelbie was presented with a CBS Sunday Morning Award, and the video was featured with discussions between Shelbie and Mr. Bacharach on CNN’s The Fourth in America  primetime special. Shelbie’s music has been featured in some of the most prestigious concert halls and theaters in the world, including The Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, The West End’s His Majesty Theater, and The Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater in Vail, CO. She also works as an arranger for Concertize and Candlelight Concerts, bringing classical music to over 3 million people and 100 cities around the world, as well as the Club Quarantine Concert Series, orchestrating music for the biggest names in hip-hop and R&B! Shelbie often works as a guest artist at The Juilliard School, and over the summer, she is the proud music director of the Vail Dance Festival, alongside Artistic Director Damian Woetzel and several world-renowned dance companies, where she can be found conducting and performing with esteemed artists, including Pulitzer Prize-winner Caroline Shaw, the Festival’s composer-in-residence, and Brooklyn Rider, the ensemble-in-residence.

KJ Stewart (Director) is a playwright/director/clown with a deep curiosity about the relationship between text and performance and the mechanics of theatricality. They are interested in unapologetic queer storytelling that celebrates absurdity, excess, and disgust through a comedic lens. Their plays have been produced at spaces like The Tank and The Wild Project as part of the Fresh Fruit Festival. On stage, they have most recently performed as part of Clown Gym's Clown Flex series. They are thrilled to be directing this iteration of Pretty Delusional! Find them on Instagram @kjessicastewart
